(The term CitizenBoulevard was inspired by a FR elaboration by editor Mr. F. Leclerc)
For metropolitan centers in the claim of Human+Space© the progressive realignment in today is necessary for tomorrow.
Here we present in short form the theme of realignment RaumSynthese, i.e. integration of public spaces as networking and lingering spaces of the future.
The UrbanMITTE© in its spatial merging is primarily expansion of existing local transport structures, future adaptation of individual transport as well as our approach, path connections in environmentally compatible axes for networking of urban spaces through a city axis. UrbanVernetzungsAchse© not only connects central urban points, but also opens up possibility of public and commercial spaces communicating with each other. This approach creates UrbanSpaces that can be experienced, i.e. that complements people as a whole.
In our ERS-Framework UrbanMITTE© (developed timeline 2011 - 2017) we have dealt with the approach CitizenBoulevard in a preliminary study under ThemenRäume©. Already at that time it was important to us to name future urban developments within the ERS-Framework, even if various tendencies were not yet comprehensively recognizable for the general observer.
The UrbanVernetzungsAchse© / CitizenBoulevard is a building block for the structural change of tomorrow: that is, to connect urban spaces both on foot and adequately with e-bikes, bikes, e-scooters and e-shuttles on a common axis. This is about the networking transformation of urban space, which, via a central axis, with various intersections, not only opens up important urban points, but a spatial connection that can be experienced by people makes the common good visible. (Since, in order to make urbanity possible, the means of transport motor vehicles must also be integrated, this topic + logistics is dealt with independently under the competence of regional traffic planners).
The demand areas based in the planning approach, with two user lanes running side by side, can ensure the use of autonomous e-shuttles with a holding lane in some areas due to the speed limit. Within the overall design, with the integration of a walking area and individual traffic, in separate areas or as a shared space, an update with a new approach can arise.
To explain the structure in its sequence, here are examples of the main axes for Frankfurt and Berlin (metropolises such as Munich, Milan, Vienna, etc. are in preparation):
Frankfurt - UrbanVernetzungsAchse© / CitizenBoulevard from Zoo to Europagarten with various intersections. The possibility with a central axis from Zoo (District I / Area ZeilRaum©), via Zeil (District I / Area ZeilRaum©), Hauptwache (District I / Area CentralPark©), Roßmarkt (District II / Area NeueMitte©), Bahnhofsplatz (District II / Area Hauptbahnhof©), Europa-Allee to Rebstockpark to be continued under realignment of development-vacant subareas urbanity and to be deposited with ThemenRäume© (the above is a statement from ERS-Framework UrbanMITTE© of jadvance GmbH).
Berlin (Middle/West) - UrbanVernetzungsAchse© / CitizenBoulevard from Scheunenviertel to Kudamm with various intersections. The possibility with a central axis from Scheunenviertel (District Mitte II / Area Scheunenviertel) via Alexanderplatz (District Mitte II / Area Alexanderplatz), Unter den Linden (District Mitte I / Area Unter den Linden), Friedrichstraße (District Mitte I / Area Friedrichstraße) Potsdamer Platz (District Mitte I / Area Potsdamer Platz/Leipziger Straße), Großer Tiergarten, Tauentzienstrasse (District West II / Area Tauentzienstrasse/Zoo), Kudamm (District West I / Area Kudamm/Lietzenburger Strasse), Kudamm (District West I / Area Kudamm/Kantstrasse) with the realignment of development-vacant sub-areas to continue urbanity and to back them with ThemenRäume©.
In order to sequence this future in an environmentally friendly, user-oriented and transport-economical way, traffic spaces for e-bikes, bikes, e-scooters and e-shuttles must be innovately designed in the cityscape - in short: a solution that generates future.
The underlying basis for the UrbanVernetzungsAchse© is structured via a master planning with respective realizable area structures. Since the axis refers to existing structures, various requirements are to be addressed in each case, such as the existing space, e.g. in retail zones. Here, the example of Frankfurt ZeilRaum©: If we consider the Zeil subarea, space for bikes, e-bikes, e-scooters and autonomous e-shuttles (for passenger transport/24 hrs. and logistics last mile/at night) could be created reciprocally on both sides of the central axis, subject to design integration of the pavilions placed there. To the pedestrian movement areas on both outer sides, with integration and enhancement of the flanking buildings, the middle axis acquires a central importance as a designed green lingering space. This planning approach enables continuous movement and lingering spaces into the evening hours.
With UrbanVernetzungsAchse© / CitizenBoulevard, merged experienceable UrbanSpaces are created, which can be grasped by humans as a whole and thus lie within their access to use. Thus, this structure can not only be cognitively grasped, but also stored in the inner working memory and correlates with the respective interests and requirements of the user.
